LED ceiling lights that you control with an app
An app-controlled LED ceiling light replaces the light switch with a slider on your phone. You can adjust the brightness, choose a light color between warm and daylight, and set timers. The LED is built-in, so you’ll never have to buy a separate light bulb.
The larger models last up to 25,000 hours and connect directly via Wi-Fi to Mi Home, Google Home, Apple Home, or Alexa, without the need for a separate hub or gateway.
As part of the broader range lighting for the home This lets you control all the lighting in your room at once, and if you want to expand your setup, you'll find smart lighting the rest of the system.
A ceiling light for any room you want
There’s a ceiling light to suit any room, including the living room, bedroom, and kitchen. Two factors determine your choice: the diameter should match the size of the room, and the light color should depend on what you do there. Yeelight provides a handy guideline for this, so you don’t have to do the math with lumens.
Ceiling light for the living room
For the living room, choose the largest size, since the light needs to reach the farthest corners there. A 45-centimeter model with 3,000 lumens is designed for 15 to 25 square meters, while a 55-centimeter model with 3,500 lumens is designed for 25 to 35 square meters.
In addition to the main light, those larger models have a backlight with 16 million colors, which you can control separately for a movie night. You can customize that backlight with led strips behind the TV or light bars next to the cabinet.
Ceiling light for the bedroom
In the bedroom, it's all about dimming. During the day, set the light to cool white to pick out your clothes; in the evening, switch to warm white around 2700 kelvin.
The larger models feature a moonlight mode with extremely low brightness, so you can walk down the hall at night without being fully awakened. If you want to extend that sense of calm, you'll find at mood lighting the supplement.
Ceiling light for the kitchen
The kitchen requires more neutral lighting than the living room, because you want to be able to see what’s on your cutting board. Around 4,000 kelvin is ideal, and a color rendering index (CRI) of Ra95 lets you see right away if your meat is cooked.
If you have a low ceiling in the kitchen, hallway, or bathroom, choose a flat, round ceiling light. Under the cabinets, cabinet lighting off the countertop, and in the hallway there are lights with a motion sensor a smart addition.
What should you look for when choosing a ceiling light?
When choosing a ceiling light, there are five key points to consider, the last of which is often overlooked. Go over them quickly before you place your order:
- Diameter: If you follow the manufacturer's guidelines for each room size, you won't have to do any calculations yourself.
- Light color: 2,700 to 3,000 kelvin is warm and cozy, 3,500 to 4,000 kelvin is neutral, and 5,000 to 6,500 kelvin is cool.
- Color reproduction: With an Ra of 90 or higher, the colors in your interior look natural, and an Ra of 95 makes them look even better.
- Operating Instructions: See if you can control the light not only through the app, but also with a remote control and your voice assistant.
- Wall-mounted dimmer: A smart ceiling light should be connected to a regular switch, not to a traditional wall dimmer that cuts off the power.
Just leave the wall switch on, and the app and your automations will continue to work. Installing it is easy: models with a quick-change mounting system can be snapped into place in just a few minutes.
